I love this, therapy lessons like cooking recipes! Haha that sounds like a great series for someone who writes about their therapy experiences. Thank you so much, wishing the same for you!

Came here for the quote in the beginning and got so much more. I moved to a new place, and now surrounded by my wife’s family. Boundaries are super hard especially around the holidays. But there’s some really good actionable gems in here. Like limiting time at the functions. That’s doable and feels a little less high stakes.

Thanks for sharing! I tried to limit advice that came from a place of assumption and privilege. I know some aren’t able to afford outside accommodations or can’t safely open up about trauma to some folks but I’m glad to see they’re resonating.

I’ve been staying at hotels since I was 25 - you would not catch me staying in any relatives house nothankyou 🙅🏼‍♀️

That’s beautiful! I now stay with one of my childhood friends and her husband when I visit home but I wouldn’t hesitate to get a hotel if need be.

I stopped staying at friends houses aged 25 too - that was the year I realised that I love my own rules and own space when I’m on holidays. Granted I had the means to do so, but I was also willing to not travel at all if I didnt have the money

Boundaries are the BEST ❤️

PS your Dad sounds like he learnt parenting from my Dad 🫠
